On Tuesday, we were docked in Aswan. This is as far as you can go in a cruise ship due to the Aswan Low and High Dams.
We got up at 4 am and were met by a guide and driver who drove us to the Abu Simbel Temples on the shore of Lake Nasser. These Temples would be underwater except a massive project cut them up, and reassembled them above the water line, with roughly the same relation to the waters of Lake Nasser, the original location had to the waters of the Nile. After viewing Abu Simbel, we had another long drive back to the ship.
