FANY Ride, Day 3, July 23, 2013
FANY Ride, Day 3, July 23, 2013
Tuesday’s ride took us from Geneva to Cortland. I walked one hill: Clark Street on the way out of Groton. I followed the cue sheet and wound up with 75.8 miles and 3791 feet of climb.
Rain started Monday evening, continued all night and into the morning. After that if became sunny and hot.
Just outside Geneva there was a crack between the road and the shoulder where two riders caught their wheel and went down. One injured his shoulder but after treatment was able to keep riding the next day. Paula hit her head and was taken to an ER in Rochester where she was treated for a concussion and admitted to the hospital for observation. She was released and flew back to Michigan the next day. Patti and Jaimie rejoined the ride on the Hamilton to Cobleskill leg.
Later in the day, Oliver’s son Darius, crashed, and got some bad road rash, and a banged up shoulder and elbow. He was treated and decided to leave the ride. Oliver continued the next day.
