On Saturday, November 6, Candace and I loaded our bikes and drive to High Bridge where we met John and his bike. The three of us then rode the Columbia Trail from High Bridge to Long Valley, where we had lunch at the Long Valley brew pub. The ride back to High Bridge gave a total of 23.5 miles.

The Columbia trail roughly follows the South Branch of the Raritan River (upstream from High Bridge) and is the path of an old railroad upon which a pipeline was constructed by the Columbia Pipeline Company and the pipeline right of way was made into a hiking/biking trail by Hunterdon and Morris counties.

It was beautiful fall day and we thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the colors.

The gps track of our ride is here.
