My niece, Becky Stevenson, wed Michael Swantek on the afternoon of Friday, October 26, 2018. The wedding was followed by a reception that evening and a “reception part dos” at their home the next day. Although Becky is from Atlanta and her parents from Los Angeles and Michael is from Long Island, they both wound up in Metairie, Louisiana (part of greater New Orleans). However, they maintain their roots as Becky is a Dodgers fan, and Michael, a Mets fan!
Several of us arrived on Thursday. Betsy (my sister in law and Becky’s aunt) and Melissa and Amy (cousins) went to Mother’s for dinner and then walked along Bourbon Street. It was dark, so no photos.
By Friday morning, Jeff had arrived and Betsy, Melissa, Amy, Jeff, and I went to the French quarter, had breakfast, walked along Decatur Street to Jackson Square. We were actually in search of Beignets, but Cafe Du Monde was too crowded. However, Jackson Square was quite interesting.
Finally we had the wedding and the two receptions. Several did more sight seeing Saturday night after “part dos,” but I’d had enough partying for one day and passed.
Jeff, Amy, and I returned to the Northeast and cold weather on Sunday.
