AA Tour, February 25-27, 2024, Patagonia II
Between January 29-March 1, 2024, Candace and I toured Argentina and Antarctica, our AA Tour.
On February 25, we were picked up at the estancia and driven (about a 3 hour drive) to El Chaltèn, a small town within the national park. Building and expansion is controlled in the town so it remains a small town with small buildings. We checked in to the hotel Lunajuim. I thought the name might have something to do with the moon (Luna). Not so - it’s the first letters of each of the owner’s four kids’ names! We ate dinner both nights at the La Cerveceria Chaltèn, a very nice brew pub.
The first day we explored the town. The second day, a guide, Candace, and I did a short hike to a nearby waterfall. Then Candace and the guide hiked part way up Mt. Fitz Roy. The third day, we did a short walk in the morning and then were driven to El Calafate airport for a flight to Buenos Aires, where we checked in to the CasaSur Palermo.
