AAS Meeting, January 5-9, 2014

Jane and I attended the 223rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society near Washington, DC. It was held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, just south of Washington, on the Potomac. It was quite a hotel!

Over 3000 astronomers were signed up for the meeting. I suspect the attendance was considerably less as snow storms on the east coast caused lots of flight cancelations. We drove, but had to delay for several hours to wait out an ice storm!

Of course, it was good to learn about the latest developments in astrophysics, cosmology, and exoplanets, but the best part of attending the meeting was reconnecting with old friends, some of whom we hadn’t seen for 25-30 years!
